Waves of Gratitude

Waves of Gratitude

With Thanksgiving upon us, Heal the Ocean is taking a moment to express our deepest thanks to all of you for your continued support.

Your commitment to our mission is the driving force behind our efforts and our successes. From beach cleanups to innovative research projects, your generosity plays a pivotal role in our mission to preserve the health and vitality of our ocean.

This year HTO would like to express particular thanks for:

  • Ira Leifer of Bubbleology Research Intl. alongside HTO Program Director, Harry Rabin, for charging ahead with the Summerland Oil Mitigation Study (SOMS), which will produce a comprehensive geologic analysis of the ocean floor beneath the leaking oil wells off Summerland beach. This study will help determine the most logical and efficient approach to the re-abandonment of legacy wells. Read more here.

  • The Montecito Fire Department for collaborating with HTO in transitioning from plastic to burlap sandbags, reducing plastic usage. Learn more here.

  • A heartfelt thank you to the numerous volunteers who dedicated their time to participate in HTO’s "Blue Glove" beach cleanup program year-round. This year our volunteers removed over 850lbs of debris off our beaches.

  • Special thanks to Chris and Diane Gabriel for their continuous support through auto-funding donations, ensuring the sustainability of our Channel Drive street-sweeping program.

  • To Tom White, HTO Board Member, and Adam White, CEO of the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company, for donating the FisHouse on November 9 for our amazing Thank You Party – hosted for our donors who helped us make this the most successful Imaginary Gala yet!

We are grateful for Giving Tuesday, just around the corner on November 28, as global day of generosity that presents an opportunity for organizations like us to come together for a collective impact. This Giving Tuesday, Heal the Ocean is featured in Noozhawk’s Giving Tuesday Non-Profits list. Check out our Q&A here!

This Giving Tuesday, whether it's through sharing our message on social media or encouraging friends and family to get involved, every contribution matters. Together, we can create positive change for our oceans.

Here are a few words from the HTO staff on what they are
thankful for this year and every year:

From all of us at HTO to all of you, thank you.
Please stay safe.
